What is MSRTC Full Form?

Full form of MSRTC is Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation. MSRTC is a state run bus service of Maharashtra.

History of MSRTC

State Government of Maharashtra established the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation in 1950 under Section 3 of RTC Act. In the same year, Central Government of India passed Road Transport Corporation Act and Bombay State Road Transport Corporation came into existence. Later, the name of state run bus service became MSRTC . The First bus was run on the Pune-Ahmednagar route in 1948. Currently, the Maharashtra bus service has 16,500 buses which ferry 7 million passengers daily on 18,700 routes.

MSRTC Buses Information

The Asiad, Parivartan, Ordinary and City Buses are built at MSRTC’s in-house workshops which are located at Aurangabad, Nagpur and Dapodi on TATA and Ashok Leyland chassis. Around 2,000 buses per annum on an average are produced in these workshops. The corporation has 32 divisional workshops with 9 tyre retreading plants.

MSRTC operates Volvo buses service under brand name Shivneri. Buses of this brand run between many places within the state of Maharashtra. The major service is between Dadar-Pune-Dadar. The first Shivneri Bus starts https://sites.google.com/view/instagramviewer at 5.30 AM from Dadar and Pune station each. After than bus, a bus after every 30 minutes departs till Midnight.

Use of MSRTC Buses

MSRTC buses, specially the S.T. buses, are used for transportation of the newspapers, postal mail, distribution of medicines and also tiffins which are sent by people living in rural areas to their relatives living in cities. Ferrying the goods of the peasants to cities, is also one of their major tasks.
