History of MSRTC
State Government of Maharashtra established the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation in 1950 under Section 3 of RTC Act. In the same year, Central Government of India passed Road Transport Corporation Act and Bombay State Road Transport Corporation came into existence. Later, the name of state run bus service became MSRTC . The First bus was run on the Pune-Ahmednagar route in 1948. Currently, the Maharashtra bus service has 16,500 buses which ferry 7 million passengers daily on 18,700 routes.

MSRTC Buses Information
The Asiad, Parivartan, Ordinary and City Buses are built at MSRTC’s in-house workshops which are located at Aurangabad, Nagpur and Dapodi on TATA and Ashok Leyland chassis. Around 2,000 buses per annum on an average are produced in these workshops. The corporation has 32 divisional workshops with 9 tyre retreading plants.
